With all the "recruits" being setup as the cast on every damn season of survivor, does anyone think it is even worth it anymore to spend the time to do an actual application and video ? Do you think they even actaully watch the videos/read the applications or is it all just a setup to get people to still pay attention to survivor ?

if you think it's a waste of time, then you shouldn't bother. So, no it's not even worth it. Don't apply.

How do you define worth it? I've tried more than once (wayyy more than once) and haven't gotten a phone call. So those tries weren't worth it?
I'm not sure. If utter, abject failure means not getting contacted, then yes Probably not worth it. I sure as hell want to get contacted, and will keep trying until it's no more (which is why I sent mine last week, and specifically stated to consider me for 19 because I know they cast their survivors up until the 11th hour before shooting starts.) Yes, the odds are less for you because of all the recruits, but it still isn't zero. That is reached when Survivor is cancelled. But if your heart isn't in it, don't bother. That way you're not annoyed with all of this and we have better odds. Sounds like win-win to me. |

Agreed. Was it worth it to Randy, Susie, Leslie, Gillian, Todd, and all of the others Survivors that APPLIED and actually got on the show? It's not who you are, it's who you know or who is watching you do boring things like shopping, going to the gym or hanging out at a taco stand. |

surguy does have a point though. If I were SEG I would find an efficient way not to have to watch new apps from repeat applicants that they know they don't
want to cast. It only makes sense to create some sort of database with the names of all the applicants and a yes/no/maybe column, with a few notes on the
maybe's....so if that was the case then as sur surmises, it is indeed a waste of time for us (assuming we are "no's") to apply. That being
said, I also will apply till the last season because once its gone its gone and I don't like regrets...

As for me? I wll continue to apply until ... either
1) I have been selected and I am participating in the game ... or 2) my applications come back, marked - addressee unknown - no such number - deceased - no forwarding address ... and then I will apply for two more seasons, just in case they start up again...

Insider info on casting....here is a snippit of an email I have come into the possession of. Read into it what you want concerning casting from here on out
and the new revolving application:
Network executives who are a part of the later casting process are not in agreement with what the fans are saying they want. One faction wants onscreen camera chemistry and the other wants contestants they can get emotionally invested in. Everyone screams at us more DIVERSITY! |

Of course they are going to use apps to generate interest.....that's the nature of reality TV. But they also keep looking at these apps because they don't want to miss a diamond in the ruff. Flying by my pants.

I feel pretty confident that every season left(however few that may be) will contain at least one if not a handful of applicants. The odds are slim, but they
are there. That's good enough for me. Plus, I am still a rookie, so it's still *fun* for me. I have actually gained quite a bit of self confidence
during the process and learned a little bit about myself.

Once you have made it into the database or have received a call back; your information will be under consideration for the remaining seasons. Only new audition
tapes will be viewed.
