CBS delays premiere of "Survivor: Gabon"
posted by halboedeker on Aug 25, 2008 4:21:43 PM CBS will push back the premiere of the next "Survivor" by a week. "Survivor: Gabon -- Earth's Last Eden" will have a two-hour opener at 8 p.m. Sept. 25. Emmy-nominee Jeff Probst is the host. The players will be announced Wednesday. Usually, CBS give the reality contest a week's jump on premiere week. Not this time. The new season officially starts Sept. 22. CBS will try to use the full power of "Survivor" to blunt the competition. CBS also wants to make a bigger deal in premiere week because "Survivor" will be in HD for the first time.

'Survivor' moves to premiere weekNew season bows Thursday, Sept. 25
The latest edition of the long-running reality franchise, "Survivor: Gabon - Earth's Last Eden," is now set to premiere on Thursday, Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. "Survivor" was originally slated to bow on Sept. 18. By moving back a week, the preem will now air as a two-hour event - the first two-hour premiere ever for the "Survivor" franchise. It's a season of firsts for the show, which will also be broadcast in high definition for the first time. Meanwhile, the shift means the second hour of "Survivor" will now go up against the first hour of ABC's two-hour "Grey's Anatomy" season premiere. "Survivor" will also go up against the hour-long preems of "My Name Is Earl" and "The Office" on NBC. CBS will cap off the night with a repeat of "CSI's" season finale. "CSI's" new season bows Oct. 9, a week after the vice presidential debates. |

Two hours - I'm so excited! I wonder if it will be a legit 2-hour first episode, or just lump the first two epis together.

August 27, 2008 07:41:50 by Joe Reality CBS has officially announced the identities of the eighteen castaways that will be competing in Survivor Gabon. Survivor Gabon is the seventeenth edition of Survivor, and the first edition to be filmed in high-definition. Host Jeff Probst said, "Shooting in HD is like adding another character to the show. The detail is so sharp you can't help but feel as though you are experiencing the adventure yourself." Survivor Gabon is set in Africa and has the tagline "Earth's Last Eden." According to Probst, "In a strange coincidence to Earth's Last Eden - good vs. evil emerges as a major theme this season. I think the audience will quickly identify with one group or the other." The eighteen castaways of Survivor Gabon have a diverse set of careers. Crystal Cox is a former Olympic Gold Medal winner, while Sugar Kiper is a pin-up model and actress. There are also two lawyers in the cast (Dan Kay and Charlie Herschel). The castaways range in age from twenty two years old (Ken Hoang and Kelly Czarnecki) to sixty-one years old (Gillian Larson). For photos and information on all the cast members, check out our Survivor Gabon cast bios. Survivor Gabon premieres on Thursday, September 25 from 8 PM to 10 PM ET/PT on CBS. |
