well Sugar and Corrinne duke it out according to Jeff's blog. So obviously Corinne must have thought she had the dumb blonde in her pocket. Ha! Like
I've been saying all along - she's not so dumb!

I gained a different insight to Sugar tonight ...
|
After looking like she was simply "going along" (sometimes even wildly/blindly going along) ... tonight she looked like she was
actually playin' ...
The question is ... why are the rest of 'em allowing Sugar to hold onto that hidden immunity idol? She's OBVIOUSLY not part of their final three/four ...

Maybe it was just the edit last week that made it look as if Bob saw the empty nail in the tree where the hidden immunity idol was hanging that Sugar removed.
Or maybe he just thought it was a small nail-shaped limb that only grows in African jungles.
The armchair quarterbacks I know think Bob could have formed a plan to blind-side Sugar and take the idol out of play. However, after reviewing the play, the call on the field stands... TOUCHDOWN SUGAR!!

nebraskama wrote: You really cannot hide the credentials of being an "olympic medalist" for one thing. They have to know that she is holding out FOR THE end game. When the game began, no one can convince me that Crystal and Kenny were sitting there going let's play against our own "tribe" unity so we can spin it to win it in the end. Yes, they have made "some moves" but the way they are playing it makes them simply look like SUGAR is playing them. If Sugar is playing the game and "SEG" doesn't just want us to think she "played" the game, she will figure out how to take Crystal out because based on "what" is left of Sugar to play against her "toughest physical" competition is/should be Crystal and Matty depending on the competition type. Based on the "plan" of Crystal and of Kenny, Susie is going to final 3 with them. If THAT is true..........I hope Susie wins it. However, Susie may have simply been edited to make NO SENSE whatsoever.......................or SEG enjoyed editing it to make both pygmies look like they had no clue. If you go by gameplay, Susie comes out as a coattail rider. Crystal comes out far too stereotyped with "attitude" and Kenny is the one who "thinks" he has control of the game. But, does he really. As for Sugar, I like Sugar. However, alot of what has held Sugar's game together is EVERYONE else second guessing each other and NOT so much to do with Sugar's gameplay. As for the "nail" I missed that totally. When Bob was talking to Sugar the slight smirk spoke for itself. Besides that when "you ain't got nothing to lose" and your this close to the end......go for smoking out hidden idols would be my thoughts. How many times has Jeff pointed out in articles the lack of using the idol or in bringing it out. With either splitting up the POWER 3 or taking Sugar out, whom they put in a power position in the beginning by repeatedly sending her to exile (Bob and Corinne would be 2 of them), people screwed themselves out of the game. It's simply an opinion, but putting Gabon aside for a moment, I think when a winning tribe sends a member of the other tribe to exile, you send a strong member to weaken the other tribe, or you send a member you think it will affect mentally and your still weakening the other tribe, or you send someone you think hasn't a snowball's chance in hell of finding the idol.........................Sugar NEVER really struck me as any of those after week two. The thing that strikes me the most is that each time they have had an exile island, they repeatedly send the same person multiple times to exile, giving someone a great advantage. IE Terry in S12. As for armchair "quarterbacking" pretty much all of us are that on this game because the editing usu. makes things seem a whole lot different than what took place in 39 days. For all we know, every move Randy made was brilliant, Susie was the "brains" behind Kenny and Crystal's game" and GC was an astounding player, but all of it got left on the editing room floor. Did you hear in the preview Bob talking about that "adrift" immunity idol?
and from a post I made a couple weeks ago... Is that an immunity idol in your shorts, or are you just happy to see me? Did Randy really set that idol adrift? Next time on Survivor. I'm not sure what I saw.

I bet he is just setting up Corrine to look like a fool as well. If he knew where it was, he could have saved Randy last week... He is a little snake.
But playing hard... You have to love the schemes...hahhah

cuon - it's interesting the different takes we all have on this. I think this is turning into one of the best final 5's ever. The problem with everyone
in this game is that they have consistently underestimated Sugar. Corinne, by openly stating why they were sending Bob to exile, showed that she didn't
believe Sugar could possibly have found the idol despite being sent there what - five, six times? Bob underestimated her too - if he searched far and wide and
didn't find it, the only conclusion he should have come to was that Sugar had it.
At this point - the Fang folks are using the idol wisely: hide behind it, get the holder on your side, and it won't be used against YOU, but against someone else. It has to be played at some point, and I don't think Sugar will waste it. I love how Sugar is playing - she's smart, she's thinking things through, she's making choices based on what is best for HER, not emotional votes (ok, with the exception of voting for Randy). She's voted along with people she's openly said she didn't trust in order to further herself in the game. She's helped vote out a lot of strong players all in a row: Marcus, Charlie, Randy. I think the rest of the players are seeing Sugar as an extra vote, not as an ally - which is a mistake on their part. Have we seen her pulled into any alliance since Ace left? I think she's playing a masterful game, and I LOVE it! |

Jeff Probst blogs 'Survivor: Gabon' (episode 10)Nov 21, 2008, 07:30 AM | by Jeff Probst Categories: 'Survivor', Reality TV, Television, Things That Are Awesome!
He asked me for my symptoms. I said, "I felt badly for Randy getting played at tribal council like a banjo at a small town country fair. (Yes, I know, bad analogy and small town and country fair are probably redundant.) Recognizing the severity of my condition, he immediately cancelled his morning appointments to squeeze me in. I'm waiting on the results. In the meantime, I try to make sense of it all. Randy is a bitter man with a ton of enemies, and he had this coming like a kid who sticks a fork in a toaster. (Was that one any better?) He deserved what he got like Survivor deserves an Emmy. So why did I feel bad? Maybe there is just something about Randy that I can relate to and sympathize with. Oh, he will hate me saying it like that. My friend Serena thinks the answer lies with Sugar and the way she handled herself as I read the votes. "Not cool." (I think she might be right. Serena is almost always right.) That uncontrollable laugh that came from such a deep place inside Sugar was so uncomfortable that I almost wanted to pull the votes out, rearrange them, rewind the tape, and vote Sugar out. Ah, but that's just me. Me and Serena that is...Me and Serena sitting in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g. I will say this - it was brilliantly played from top to bottom, and I do appreciate that level of execution. Bob deserves major credit. He built an amazing fake idol, and he played both Corinne and Randy so well. Didn't rush it, wasn't pushy. He was subtle. Subtle like the feather of an eagle falling softly to the ground. (Worse?) Corinne on the other hand is equally as mean as Randy but I don't find myself rooting for her in any way. She is an original. I will give her that. Not sure we've ever had anybody on the show quite like Corinne. Corinne is as subtle as a thunderstorm. Subtle as the look I give a Survivor when they want to quit. Subtle as, I know, a Probst analogy. Jerri Manthey can't hold a candle to Corinne. Jerri had some likable qualities about her, Corinne has none. Just ask her. She'll tell you the same thing. By the way, (which is, by the way, one of the phrases that most annoys me because everyone in Hollywood uses it as a way to alert you they're about to say something brilliant) all this stuff about me being attracted to Corinne really surprised me. Here's the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. I felt like I had been beating up on Corinne for so long that when I saw her smile on the last episode I figured I'd say at least one nice thing. Fittingly, Corinne probably hated that I said it in the first place. But just so we are clear, I have no interest in dating Corinne. I do not have the hots for Corinne. I don't think about Corinne. I like nice women. Done. Enough already. The Survivor Auction. Food wise, Randy was the clear winner and provoked a wonderful 5th-grade argument with Sugar about a cookie, and of course Sugar had to get the last word, and did when she took the cookie and gave it to Matty. So there. Whatcha gonna do about it? Serena likes Sugar but thinks she gets it wrong every single time at tribal council. I'm a little confused about the auction - it's the one point in the show where we give the Survivors free money and then let them bid on food items and the like. So...why was it so bitter? Sugar hates Randy. Randy hates Sugar. Corinne hates Sugar. Sugar hates Corinne. Thank god everybody likes Bob. At least there's one person to root for. I'll tell you this: If it keeps up it's going to be an amazing bloodbath toward the end. I absolutely love watching Kenny get more and more cocky each week. At the auction for instance, Matty is bidding on the burger and fries and Kenny, who had the most money, shrugs his shoulders and says, "You can have it." Like Tony Soprano, this kid. I can't wait for the execution. I promise you if he keeps this attitude, it will happen and he will not see it coming. Okay, so to recap, which Serena loves for me to do... I'm concerned about my soft spot for Randy, not interested in Corinne, can't wait for Kenny to get his comeuppance, enjoyed the 5th grade cookie argument, and love Bob. Now to answer a few questions from last week: Regarding a Final 3 vs. a Final 2: Our main concern is to make sure we keep the show interesting, so we vary it from season to season as we see fit. There are strong arguments on both sides, and I promise you whichever side you take, I will take the other side and defeat you. I love debate. To Penny P - uh...the reason I started saying "FANG" instead of "FONG" is because the tribe changed their name. Pay attention. Finally, regarding the "same lines" I say every week, such as: "Come on in guys," "Wanna know what you're playing for?" "Immunity is back up for grabs," etc.... 1. Yes, I write everything I say. Blame me.
That's it. I'm done. Now check out our exclusive deleted scene from Survivor: Gabon and then read Dalton's recap.

on the Insider clips, Sugar reveals that she's in TWO alliances - but the one she will stick to is [gasp! for some I'm sure] is Crystal and Kenny.
Interesting! oh, early in the season, Jeff also said that you would find yourself rooting for Sugar too.

Matty better wake up and start playing ...
|
Because unless he's planning on winning all the immunity challenges (ala` Terry) Matty will be F-5 and gone ....
I STILL don't "get" leaving the Hidden Immunity Idol "in play" UNLESS Crystal/Kenny figure Sugar for F-3 anyway ... which would be a BAD move on their part - Sugar likely wins against either Kenny or Crystal .... (I think it is Susie in their F-3, NOT Sugar ... agree - yes/no?) What about Matty/Sugar/Bob? ... THAT makes both Matty and Sugar F-2 ... from where I sit, THAT's a "better" play for them ... no?

actually, Sugar thinks she could win against Crystal, but that she would lose to Kenny. Surprisingly, she's fine with that! I think anyone has a better
chance at winning going against anyone but Kenny or Crystal. Of the people left in the game, K & C are the two people who have most influenced the way the
votes have gone. With the exception of Dan, Paloma and Michelle, those two have had a big hand in every other vote in the game.

Maybe a Sugar/Bob Alliance?
Laughing Pygmy wrote:It doesn't make a lot of sense for Bob to screw Corrine like he screwed Randy .... UNLESS "he" gets something out of the deal? Right? (I mean - IF he makes it any farther, he NEEDS some "jury" votes, right?) MAYBE a Matty/Sugar/Bob alliance to the final three ... honestly, I'd be disappointed in a Crystal/Kenny F-2 ...... BECAUSE "LUCK" has played a HUGE part in them being where they are ... I'd rather see the BEST "strategic/mental" player get rewarded first, and if that doesn't work out, the BEST physical player .... when the "LUCK" follows someone ... that's just unfortunate ... Sadly, Kenny/Crystal were simply the most fortunate ... being in the right place, at the right time, and making the obvious moves .... Crystal or Kenny finishing as Sole Survivor would be a crappy ending to what has been a pretty good season ...
