I liked Bob a lot more than I liked Sugar, but I'm not arguing that he deserved to win. That's just the way the game played out.

But she didn't survive the final vote, that's my point. She pissed off too many people on the jury, so I don't agree that she played everyone
perfectly. If she had played them perfectly, they would have voted for her. I also think that if she hadn't found the idol early in the game things would
have gone much differently.

So I guess when someone gets the helicopter shot, that means they're the winner. How many times has that been now?

He gained weight?!? I find that really hard to believe. He had no ASS by the time he was finished!

I don't think he ever had one, darned skinny guy who can eat anything and not gain weight. I guess those pears filled him up.

I missed the significance of the helicopter shot. It seems like they did that with Earl too.

they definitely did that with Earl. Someone with a better memory than me needs to figure out how many winners have gotten a solo on top of the hill shot.

Poor Bob! The planned celebration for Bob had to be relocated today due to a bomb threat!
Gorham High cancels classes after bomb threat Gorham High School was evacuated due to a bomb threat Wednesday morning, according to the school department's Web site The school's approximately 850 students were sent home around 9:40 a.m. The evacuation did not force the cancellation of a welcome home assembly for physics teacher Bob Crowley, who won $1.1 million on the CBS show "Survivor" Sunday night. Students said that around 8:40 a.m. they heard announcements over the school's loudspeaker telling them to leave school with their keys and cell phones and proceed to the gym at the town office complex, a short walk away. At the gym, the assembly for Crowley was held. Students cheered, chanted his name, posed for pictures with him, and asked him questions about his experience on the show. Crowley said he "felt great to have so much support." Once the assembly was over, students were released for the day. School officials said they would have a statement to make about the evacuation later in the day. |

I'm only posting this because Bob is one of the few folks that would actually calculate something while on the show, or at least try to make a good
estimate based on the physics of the situation. And that I can totally respect.
I forget the exact problem he was going to pose to his students but these are the equations that are related to the problem of a projectile's path as a function of time. x(t)=v*cos(θ)*t y(t)=v*sin(θ)*t-16*t2 V is velocity (feet/sec), theta is the launch angle (degrees), and t is time (seconds). You could solve for another parameter such as time if you specify an end to the trajectory in terms of height or distance. Anyway, here's a quick analysis of a projectile's path thrown horizontally at some speed for some amount of time.
Note that in the above example the projectile falls 16 times as far as it travels horizontally during the first second after launch. All you boys and girls can throw those equations into a spreadsheet if you want to change input parameters such as launch speed or angle and see different results. I somehow missed the particular episode where they did this but from the re-onion show it looked like this scenario was close to what they did in the challenge. Q.E.D. ------------------- Edited for clarification, not to fix a units problem. Repeat, not to fix a units problem!

Po you are nuts! LOL ... maybe 4 people here would actually do that or have done it, Randy being one. I see on his profile that he lived in Plano the same time
I lived there, it is a small world after all .. quoting Disney here!
Hey LP, you still tracking IP's? ... this one should be fun. |
