I am ALWAYS stoked when 'regular' folks ACTUALLY make the show ... I wasn't so much struck by the similarity of the participants to previous
Survivors as much as I was pleased that, on balance, they seemed to reflect Casting trying to get a group of people that was high on regular folks content and
low on Mactors and those who are 'connected' ... They added a couple 'older' folks too, which they have been loath to do in the recent past ...
Seems like this cast is closer to the earlier shows ... which hopefully will make for better TV ...

Seeing that the premiere is just going to be back to back episodes, I would have preferred that they kept it on the 18th since it would only be three days
away. However, I guess this small clip would have to suffice for the time being, as it did get me pumped for the season. This is the link to a small Probst
interview on Regis and Kelly, and the first part is the final shot of the opening sequence (which is always my favorite) with Probst saying 39 days, 18 people,
1 Survivor. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R747bznYJsI
Hopefully, 2 of my favorites this season don't both get the boot on the 25th, that would suck.. haha |

Better than Buffs | ||
Better Than BuffsThey've always sold buffs in conjunction with each season of "Survivor." For "Survivor: Gabon," which premieres in a week, CBS is selling T-shirts in conjunction with Edun Live, the clothing brand started by Bono and his wife. The shirts will feature the logo of the show, "Outwit, Outplay, Outlast" in the shape of the African continent on the front, and the "Survivor" logo on the back. Proceeds for the shirts, which wil be made in Africa, by Africans, using African cotton, will go to helping fund sustainable employment in sub Saharan Africa. They'll be sold at CBSstore.com for $24.95 a pop, starting Sept. 25, also the day of the season premiere. |

I was already loving Jeff Probst before I read that article, but now I love him even more! Now another reason to get on Survivor--so I can see my one true
love! Of course, I'm probably too old for him even though I think we're the same age. How old is Jeff?

Well, I finally watched the preview. Where was Randy? He must have been hiding in the bush. He did have one comment: I never met a person who did not
disappoint me. What an inspiration. And he claims to be a bully. And has some issues? HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Just a few.
I still say that Jessica is first boot. And Paloma not far behind. Corrine is the %$!*! Manthy of the season. I'm pulling big time for Bob. Susie has a cross to bear and won't last very long. The winner of this season? Dan |

thanks for bringing the info on the CNET preview to our attention, wannabethere. I was waiting for the clock to hit 8--and watched it immediately--I was so
pumped. The thing I thought was the funniest part about it is how they all looked so pissed when they were walking towards Jeff. Some looked bored, and the
others looked like they were going to meet Satan or something. I would've been grinning ear to ear--I don't see how they couldn't.

GABON GAL A REAL 'SURVIVOR'September 20, 2008 --CBS is using oil-rich Gabon as the home of its newest "Survivor" series. But there's a real-life survivor of the tiny African nation who won't be on the show - one who lived through torture and voodoo spells. The daughter-in-law of Gabon President El Hadj Omar Bongo Ondimba says the tropical country that borders Congo and Cameroon is really a hell on Earth. American-born Inge Bongo, who's married to fabulously wealthy Ali Bongo, the president's son, tells Page Six she suffered horrific abuse and torture at her in-laws' hands and has the scars to prove it. "I have been brutalized, but it is nothing compared to the suffering of the poor in Gabon," Inge told us. "They have nothing, while the Bongos spend their oil money like it was water." Inge is in the middle of a messy divorce from Ali Bongo, who was appointed Gabon's defense minister by his father. She charges that Bongo cruelly deserted her and their kids to marry a very young Gabonese girl. "On two occasions, while Inge was visiting her husband and his family, she was kidnapped and subjected to voodoo to attempt to get her to be a subservient wife," a close friend of Inge told us. "She has scars on her arms and across her back and stomach where a medicine man mutilated her when they slashed her and placed black-magic medicine in the wounds." Inge, 40, is so frightened of the Bongos that she's fled Gabon and now lives in seclusion in a remote area of Southern California. This season's "Survivor" contestants will face poisonous snakes, bugs, spiders and charging hippos. But one of Inge's friends says, "Mark Burnett should have Inge on his show as the real Survivor of Gabon." Inge is now writing a tell-all memoir on her experiences in Gabon. The Gabon government did not respond to our e-mails seeking a comment. |

I do not appreciate such falsehoods being passed on the interweb.
Please join me in enjoying the Survivor program and ignoring this ungrateful woman. This story makes me sound like the corrupt dictator of a small tinpot country and of this I do not approve. |
